Getting the levels right on Romiley's sloping plots
Romiley's streets climb in every direction — up from Compstall Road and Stockport Road towards Werneth Low, and down towards Chadkirk and the canal. A sloping drive looks simple until rainwater starts running at the garage door, so we survey the falls first and choose the surface around them.
Block paving is our usual pick on steeper Romiley frontages: it grips well, it's easy to lift and relay if a section ever settles, and a channel drain across the top keeps water off the house. On gentler plots near the village centre, resin-bound surfacing gives a smooth, permeable finish.

My Romiley drive slopes towards the house — can you fix it?
Usually, yes. We re-grade the sub-base so the surface falls away from the house, and add a channel drain or soakaway where water needs somewhere to go. We'll explain the options at your survey.
Can you repair a few sunken blocks rather than relay the whole drive?
Yes. We lift the affected area, rebuild and compact the bedding underneath, relay the original blocks and re-sand the joints so the repair blends in.
