Resin
How to look after a resin-bound driveway

One of the reasons people love resin is how little looking after it needs. But a few easy habits will keep the colour bright, the surface draining and the drive looking as good as the day it went down.
Sweep regularly
A stiff brush every few weeks clears leaves, grit and soil before they settle into the surface. In autumn — and there are plenty of trees around Stockport — it's worth doing more often, because rotting leaves can stain and block the pores.
Wash gently a couple of times a year
A hose or a pressure washer on a low setting, held at a sensible distance, will lift general dirt. Avoid a narrow, high-pressure jet close to the surface, as it can loosen stones over time.
Deal with moss and algae early
Shady, damp corners can grow a green film, especially through a Manchester winter. A suitable patio or driveway cleaner and a brush usually sort it. Check the product is safe for resin surfaces before using it.
Oil and fuel spills
Blot spills straight away with absorbent paper or cat litter rather than letting them sit. Petrol and some solvents can damage resin, so avoid harsh chemicals and test any cleaner on a hidden patch first.
Things to avoid
- Turning the steering wheel while stationary on very hot days
- Dragging skips or heavy metal objects across the surface
- Leaving rubber mats or plant pots in one place for months
- Sharp metal shovels when clearing snow
